Today I have taken down my recommendation from way back at the 25th of January last year and changed the stars from 5 to 3, and put in some remarks here on the following toplines. The reason for this is that when last year I received the book, then I was using AutoCAD 14, from way back 1994, and I only used the book for helping me a bit with the 3D drawings. But now when I during the last 4 days suddenly have gone from AutoCAD 14 to AutoCAD 2007, I then really ran into problems with missing helps in the book. Now it suddenly to me was as if I was beginner (I started on AutoCAD in 1988), and without any persons to ask for help concerning the information which I are missing in the book.In the book I discovered that there is no information about how to print out the drawings, and I showed up that the printing out procedure is totally different from in the old AutoCAD, so I really am missing help from the book. I am searching after another book to help me concerning the AutoCAD printing, even though I nearly have solved the problem.Besides in the book there are some of the statements, instructions, to do when drawing lines, which to me absolutely don’t fit together, doing what should be done, even after hours, in wain, trying to find out why not. And I owe 12 AutoCAD books bought in the years 1988 – 1992, besides LISP books, and made thousands of drawings, so who these problems when just drawing lines and in wain from the book trying in getting help? The here following lines are the same as I e-mailed to Amazon way back in January las year. This week I from Amazon received the AutoCAD 2004 book which I had ordered without possibility to look inside it before ordering, but after now having received it I must admit that it’s a fantastic good book which I have received, so I’m highly satisfied.Mostly I bought this used book for discovering what more there might have come into AutoCAD since when I back in 1992 then bought the last AutoCAD book, even though I then had stopped using AutoCAD. Before that year I during the years 1988-1990 as engineer in a construction department daily used the AutoCAD, after we in 1988 had changed to the AutoCAD PC program for our machine drawings instead of another program which then had used 1 year. During these years I bought 10 books about AutoCAD and AutoLISP, as I by myself had to find out anything, including Changing screen and LISP programs. The first AutoCAD which I then used was AutoCAD 9, so titled in Denmark, and only being a 2 ½ dimensional. The AutoCAD 10, which I got the following year then was 3 dimensional. But we couldn’t print out with 3-dimensional drawing as nice as now a day, among other because missing colors on the object sides, so therefore only used as 2 dimensions. But during the last 4 years I have made hundreds of AutoCAD drawings by using an AutoCAD from 1997, but still nearly only as 2 dimensional drawings, as this program still miss color on the objects, and some file types is missing. But the actual book which we here look at is really good, and I had been using AutoCAD during my engineering studying years, which I finished January 1986, then this book would have been an excellent book to owe, part of which can be understood by looking at the following list with the books contents.Contents objectsChapter 1 Getting Started 1 - 20Chapter 2 Fundamentals of 2-D Construction 21 - 64Chapter 3 More Advanced Commands 65 - 126Chapter 4 Sketching 127 - 150Chapter 5 Orthographic Views 151 - 222Chapter 6 Sectional Views 223 - 254Chapter 7 Auxiliary Views 255 - 286Chapter 8 Dimensioning 287 - 344Chapter 9 Tolerancing 345 - 382Chapter 10 Geometric Tolerances 383 - 428Chapter 11 Threads and Fasteners 429 - 464Chapter 12 Working Drawings 465 - 504Chapter 13 Gears, Bearings, and Cams 505 - 540Chapter 14 Fundamentals of 3D Drawing 541 - 568Chapter 15 Surface Modeling 569 - 610Chapter 16 Solid Modeling 611 - 682Chapter 17 Descriptive Geometry 683 - 722Appendix 723 - 754Index 755 - 757First of all, in the book there are extremely many drawings in each chapter, drawing just as desired by a mechanical engineer; none suitable to an electricity engineer. Probably more than half of the drawings with dimension lines, and of these halves measured in Inches and half in Millimeters. In some of the chapters we besides also are having Design drawing, that is drawings which in one corner have an exploded 3-dimensional drawing with parts colored in from white to dark, and on the rest of the side, the 2 dimensional measured drawings.Besides, as seen in the Contents, the book is as fitting for a mechanical engineer by among other having the Chapter 11 “Threads and Fasteners”, and the Chapter 13 “Gears, Bearings, and Cams”, in which we besides the drawings also having many lists of standard units and types. And in the Chapter 9 “Tolerancing”, we get a good combination of drawings and list of the standard norms for tolerances for holes/axels and surface finish. In Appendix we get 32 sides with: Wire and Sheet Metal Gauges, American Standard Force and Shrink Fits, Standards for the different Screws, and so on.Only one remark. If I had written this book then I would have shown an example on using AutoLISP, the AutoCAD variant of LISP (nickname Lost In Stupid Parentheses), for example a LISP program for a spur gear, as I besides for screws and so on, made during the years 1989-90. That would be a printed down program which would occupy a bit less one side in the book, and used by persons only having to put in/tell the position, turning angel (if gears fitting correctly into each other), dimension (the “size” of the teeth), and the number of teeth. And no matter its size and number of teeth, it will be printed out in less than a minute. But showing such a printed AutoLISP program for waking up interest in using it. The C programming can also be used. Here the 8th of October 2017: not quite an excellent book for beginners without help from other persons.

This book is an introduction to AutoCAD. It starts by introducing you to most of the buttons and their functions in AutoCAD. From there, it gives you exercises to practice those tools you just learned. It starts off pretty simple by making basic shapes, but it gets more difficult as you progress by getting into tolerances and making you figure things out on your own. Every chapter builds on the previous chapter, but my professor had us jumping around based on what he thought we needed to know. This was a required textbook for my AutoCAD I and II classes.

great

Book came late by a day and the hard cover was completely removed from the main part of the book at the spine. The book I'd say is in fair to poor condition because of the binding. The material was still all there but it will make it hard for me to take between classes because of the pages almost falling out.

It is a great price but the binding ripped the day after I got it

Great bargain! Cheaper than purchasing from the school bookstore..

I ordered my book when the qtr started, its the end of the qtr and still no book. 11 week qtrs! I thought I'd be ok even though the bookstore is based in India, nope. They dont respond to emails and lie thru their dirty teeth. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

Exactly what I needed and in great condition!
