With added illustrations, a twenty-page color insert, additional original material, and refreshed design and typography, this powerful work returns to its true stature as a modern masterpiece. An essential textbook for students of the occult, The Golden Dawn includes occult symbolism and Qabalistic philosophy, training methods for developing magical and clairvoyant powers, rituals that summon and banish spiritual potencies, secrets of making and consecrating magical tools, and much more.

Before you begin this tome, purchase a companion book known as a 'dictionary'. Although this edition is edited to be easier for those of us that find comfort in words with less than eight letters in them, the true flavor of Israel Regardie's grasp of the English language is quite evident on each page; but don't let that dissuade you from owning this truly magnificent work. Work being the operative word here, beginning with looking up those words your not familiar with, to the repetitive, and exacting formulae of perfecting the magick you will learn to use as described within it's pages, The Golden Dawn: The Original Account of the Teachings, Rites, and Ceremonies of the Hermetic Order (7th Ed.) will, if the practitioner applies him/her self with true feelings and diligent purpose, reward with positive manifestation. It could take weeks to quickly read and leaf through and then go back and begin the true referencing, note-taking, practicing, and learning the work which could ultimately take years to grasp (master?), but then, if it wasn't hard work, it wouldn't work at all. I am thoroughly enjoying the read, and marveling at what I am learning.
I regret to say many of the errors of the previous edition were not corrected, including some I've pointed to John Michael Greer, including Hebrew spelling and five errors in the opening of the key.Worse, I've found some problem in the 7th edition kindle that aren't in the 6th edition kindle, specifically the symbols for the pips were properly arranged in 6th edition Book T part of the kindle, but are garbled in the 7th edition.Another example is in the 1st operation of opening of the key - the 6th edition has the Hebrew Tetragrammaton correctly written, in the 7th edition the letters are in reverse order.Another example are the table of Hebrew alphabet in the 1st knowledge lecture. The 7th edition has the size of Yod and Koph vary from the rest of the letters, where in the 6th edition they were all the same size.Bottom line, I don't see the benefit of owning this edition over the 6th edition or the new falcon edition.
This is a very good, and much needed update. Its not perfect but nothing is. As much as this work has influenced every aspect of Western Occultism from Fords Nightside Satanism, to most Wicca, to all the Magicians who criticize S.L. Macgreggor Mathers but wouldn't have ever practiced magick without his work, had it not been for the Golden Dawn the systems all these magicians use would not exist.
I really liked this book better than my old blue edition which is a copy of the original manuscript. This book goes deep in to detail describing everything to easily comprehend.
There are still some mistakes, but it is a beautiful piece of work and I am grateful. Thank you.
If you want the encyclopedia of the Golden Dawn, this is going to do it. There's a few things you won't find: not much on astrology, not much on day to day lifestyle application, not much about practical uses for esotericism. This book should be accompanied by a few others: "Gems from the Equinox" (compiled by Regardie), "Self-Initiation Into The Golden Dawn" by Chic and Tabatha Cicero, "Morals and Dogma" by Albert Pike and "Magick in Theory and Practice" by Aleister Crowley. These five books are a good basis for the beginning library. Round it off with whatever other texts suit your practicing ideology. If you plan on reading it from cover to cover, Lord help you.
A must have for those interested in the Golden Dawn. So much information inside. The book is incredibly thick with pages filled with valuable information for anyone interested in ceremonial magick, hermeticism, astrology, alchemy, numerology and tarot. Very well written with diagrams. Although much of the ceremonial rituals will require a group setting, there is still much to take away from the book for the solitary practitioner.
If you are interested in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Tarot cards, the occult and the Kaballah, then this book is essential. It is NOT an easy read! It is basically a manual for magicians. I am studying the Golden Dawn and the Tarot, so it was very useful to me to see how the Golden Dawn interpreted the Tarot.
